Crafty Rock Yarners

The "Crafty Rock Yarners" groups will resume every week from February 15th.

This is a social group for those who love to knit or crochet and is on a pay as you go basis of €5.

If you'd like to give us a try, just come along -everyone  is welcome!

Times : Monday 10.30-12.30pm  and Tuesdays 7- 9pm in Blackrock Haggardstown Community Centre, Sandy Lane.

We started a knit and crochet group soon after we opened the shop in 2017. At that time we met in the close and cosy confines of our "back room", seated around the beautiful oak table we had been gifted. The highlight of these Thursdate groups was the anticipation of what home baking Rita would have brought for us to enjoy with our tea! There was great chat and story telling as well as stitching at these weekly gatherings.

The Tuesday evening group was a spin off of one of the Beginner Crochet classes Brenda had given and the girls called themselves the Happy Hookers. Although this group were only offered biscuits they continued to come along each week and friendships were made, knowledge shared and many laughs enjoyed!

We worked away on our own projects, some making comfort rugs for patients  undergoing chemotherapy or in the Palliative Care Unit in our local hospitals, or  working together making items for charity events and raffles. We enjoyed several nights out together coming together for a meal in a local restaurant.

When the Pandemic arrived we had to close our "back room" for meetings and What's App and Facebook groups kept us connected. When we could we  took up residence in the local Community Centre. For a time the two groups, calling ourselves ,The Crafty Rock Yarners , met as one entity, but we are now holding a morning and evening session once again. We have to be satisfied with individually wrapped bars with our tea now but its wonderful to be able to get together again.
