Totally Beginner Crochet Class with Mona of Mona Handicrafts
Have you always wanted to learn to crochet but didn’t know where to start? This totally beginners’ crochet course is the perfect introduction.
No previous experience is required, and no prior knowledge will be assumed. Mona will guide you through each step at a relaxed pace, ensuring everyone has the confidence to learn and enjoy the craft.
Over the course of four Thursday evenings in September (7.00pm – 9.00pm) at The Crafty Rock Shop, you will learn the essential stitches and techniques needed to create the classic granny square, including:
- How to hold your hook and yarn comfortably
- * Making a slip knot
- * Chain stitch
- * Slip stitch
- * Double crochet
- *Treble (UK terminology)
- * Working in the round
- * Joining rounds
- * Basic colour changes
- * Reading a simple crochet pattern
- * Understanding yarn tension and finishing techniquesUsing these new skills, each student will create a beautiful Granny Square Card Holder to take home. If time allows, Mona will also introduce other granny square variations and demonstrate how these versatile motifs can be transformed into a variety of projects.

She is passionate about sharing her knowledge and helping new crocheters discover the enjoyment and creativity of this timeless craft.

To reserve your place book here or pay a €30 deposit in the shop, balance payable on the day of the workshop. Please note that in the event of cancellation the deposit is retained unless a replacement is found.
A minimum number of 5 participants is needed for the workshop to take place. In the event of our cancelling all payments made will be refunded.
